Vladimir Slovachevsky

Vladimir Slovachevsky inherited his family’s long musical history. Born on November 1, 1991, he began studying cello at the age of four. From 1998 to 2005 he studied in a lyceum for gifted children at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. In 2006 he entered the Universitat fur Musik und darstellende Kunst of Vienna (Austria), specializing in cello under Professor Kropfich, where he is studying currently.

Vladimir Slovachevsky is the winner of several International Young Competitions:

  1. New Names – 1st prize (Moscow)

  2. Gartoff Foundation Competition – 1st prize (Germany/Russia)

  3. Glazunov International Competition of Young Performers – 1st prize (Paris)

  4. “Concert with orchestra” International Competition – 1st prize (Voronezh,Russia)

  5. Maria Yudina International Chamber Music Competition – 2nd prize (Saint-Petersburg, Russia, 2007)

  6. 8th International Osaka Musical Competition - 3rd prize (Osaka, Japan, 2007)

He has been concretizing from his early youth:

He participated in many concert tours in Italy with the renowned Russian singer Irina Bogacheva.

At the age of 14, Vladimir was awarded the right to perform in the subscription series of solo concerts of the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

  • In October 2007, Vladimir debuted in the Large Hall of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg (Saint-Saens Cello concert).

    Vladimir also regularly plays in the most prestigious concert halls of Moscow – The Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center, The House of Music, in the Kremlin. He has played with symphonic orchestras of various Russian cities many times, performing cello concerts of Haydn, Boccerini, Bach, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky “Rococo Variations”, Shostakovich Concert #1, Beethoven Triple Concert for piano, violin and cello.

    For the 2008-09 season a subscription series is being planned, in which one will hear Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo Variation” with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic (music director Yuri Temirkanov).

    Vladimir works closely with the English wunderkind-composer, conductor and pianist Alex Prior, often playing with and performing Prior’s music in different countries.

    Vladimir Slovachevsky has grants from several philanthropic foundations that support young talented performing musicians:

    1. Orbelyan Foundation,

    2. Spivakov Foundation,

    3. Rostropovich Foundation

    During the last seven years Vladimir regularly takes master classes with Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Natalia Shakhovskaya.
